The Kalmar Nyckel Foundation operates a full-scale replica of a ship from Sweden that brought the first permanent European settlers to what is now Delaware. Fittingly, part of the Foundation’s mission is to educate the community about maritime history. As part of Kyle’s Education Internship, he ordered 14,000 LEGOs to make over 60 shipbuilding kits, which came in handy during the Kalmar Nyckel’s LEGO Day on March 2, 2019. Originally a collaboration between the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation and the Hampton Roads Naval Museum, the Kalmar Nyckel decided to create its own kits from scratch with Kyle’s help.
